South Range 7 - Ursuline 31

The Raider's season came to a close tonight in the Regional Finals to a very good and very talented Ursuline Irish football team 31-7.  The Raiders need to hold there heads high because what they have accomplished is unbelievable.  The Raiders are 12-1, ITCL Champions, AP State Runner up, and Regional Finalist.

CONGRATULATIONS to the whole TEAM.  A special CONGRATULATIONS and THANK YOU to the SENIORS.  The SENIORS carried on the RAIDER TRADITION and showed the younger players what it takes to be a WINNER and a CHAMPION!! 

To all the younger players, learn from the SENIORS, learn what it takes to play at the next level.  Rest and get healthy because it won't be long and we will be right at it again.

South Range 23 - Gilmour Academy 0

The Raiders played as a TEAM and defeated a very good Gilmour Academy football team tonight 23-0.  It was a total TEAM effort and was highlighted by many great performances by many different individuals.

The Raider Defense stepped it up tonight.  The Defense came away with 3 interceptions and a fumble recovery along with many QB sacks and hurries.  The Defensive Line and Linebackers shut down Gilmour's powerful running attack holding them to 33 yards on the ground and forcing them to throw.

On Offense the Raiders used 6 different running backs as they racked up 202 yards on the ground and 6 different receivers for another 67 yard.  The Offensive Line did a SUPER job opening up holes for the backs and making time for the passing game. 

Next week the Raiders play Youngstown Ursuline in the Regional Finals.  Ursuline defeated Apple Creek Waynedale tonight 29-6.  The location of the game will be announced Sunday Afternoon.

Stay Focused and practice hard this week.  Continue to get better and continue playing as a TEAM!!!

South Range vs. Gilmour Academy

Tonight the Raiders take on Gates Mills Gilmour Academy in round two of the OHSAA Playoffs.  The game will be played at Mollenkopf Stadium in Warren at 7:30.  Gilmour Academy (9-1) advanced after beating Mathews last week.

South Range 45 - Kirtland 30.

The RAIDERS (11-0) beat a really good Kirtland football team (8-3) tonight in round one of the play-offs.  The Raiders jump out to a early 21-0 lead and went into half time 21-6.  The second half saw Kirtland score on their first possession and the RAIDERS kick a 34 yard field goal.  In the forth quarter both offenses went crazy with Kirtland scoring 16 more and the RAIDERS scoring 21.

Both TEAMS fought until the very end.  Team totals were very even with Raiders rushing for 277 yards and passing for 99 while Kirtland rushed for 82 and passed for 302 yards.

The Raiders played great and need to start now focusing and preparing for their next opponents.  The Raiders will play the winner of Gilmour Academy and Mathews who play Saturday afternoon.

10-0 and ITCL Champions! 

Tonight the RAIDERS host the Kirtland Hornets in the first round of the OHSAA playoffs.  Kirtland ended their regular season 8-2 and finished in the 8th spot in region 17.

Both teams are similar in style.  The Raiders and Kirtland both want to run the ball first.  Kirtland is very big and athletic up front and have 2 really good backs.  Their QB can both run and throw too.  Most teams in their league had a hard time running against their strong defensive front 7.

Good Luck to both teams and Congratulations on all your accomplishments this year.

CONGRATULATIONS RAIDERS!!

10-0 and ITCL Champions! 

The Raiders defeated Springfield tonight 34-7 in a good cross town rivalry match up. With the victory the Raiders are guaranteed the number 1 spot in the region and will have host a playoff game next FRIDAY evening.  The Raiders will have to wait to see who they are paired up with.      

The game was a match up between 2 different styles of offense.  Springfield's passing attack against the Raider's running game.  The Raiders rushed for 330 yards on 45 attempts and passed for another 54.  The Raider defense held Springfield to 47 yards rushing and 143 yard through the air.   

As the Raiders prepare for the Playoffs they must continue to stay focused.  They must also continue to reach for their GOALS and fighting as a TEAM!!  As a TEAM ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE.  Concentrate, and have a GREAT week of practice.

The Raider Football Camp went GREAT!!  Good turn out and everyone learned a lot.  During Camp the emphasis was on the fact that "Champions are not Born, THEY ARE MADE!!"  We as RAIDERS must continue to work hard and do all the little things RIGHT!  You must also Believe in each other and as ONE anything is POSSIBLE!!  Continue Lifting and Conditioning and come AUGUST become ONE!!

Tonight the Raiders fell 21-14 to a really good Warren JFK football team.  The Raiders played with a lot of HEART and a lot of PRIDE.  They fought until the final whistle and never gave up.  Congratulations Seniors on a GREAT RUN!! It was a lot of fun and a great 4 years.  Each of you have a lot to be PROUD of.  The younger players need to learn from them and continue to carry on the RAIDER TRADITION!!
